A moment of silence for [[Paige Miles]], please. Paige started out as a hopeful auditionee in Florida, and we all loved her sweet, shy personality and brilliant singing voice. Her American Idol journey ended last night when she was voted off and the judges unanimously decided not to save her.
However, when the live shows started, Paige went downhill fast. One week it was laryngitis, other weeks it was bad song choices. The votes started to slip last week when Paige found herself in the bottom two on Rolling Stones week.
This week, Kara was horrified by her performance of Against All Odds and commented that “somewhere along the line I think you stopped competing and stopped listening to what we were saying”. In my own commentary, I said that Paige looked fed up and felt everything about the performance was half-hearted. Yeah, pick me for the next Idol judge!
This means that Paige has missed out on the opportunity to go on the [[American Idol (2010 Series)|American Idol]] summer tour. I still think she gave such a poor performance because she wanted to leave. I don’t know why, but she used to be so much better than this.
Joining Paige in the bottom three were [[Tim Urban]] and [[Katie Stevens]], both of whom butchered popular songs this week. I think Katie in particular this week was exposed as a bad vocalist. Tim’s assault on Crazy Little Thing Called Love must have had Freddie Mercury spinning in his grave. It was an utter disaster, filled with gimmicky stage moves and a lackluster vocal.
Elsewhere on the show, Miley Cyrus performed, and Joe Jonas sang a duet with Demi Lovato. Can you tell the theme for this week was going to be “Teen Idols”?
