American Idol 2010: Tim Urban eliminated after Idol Gives Back

Fluffy-haired prettyboy [[Tim Urban]] reached the end of his [[American Idol (TV Series)|American Idol]] run last night, leaving in seventh place. After being dubbed “Teflon Tim” for his bizarre ability to stay on the show despite consistently lacklustre performances, his performance of Better Days by The Goo Goo Dolls made public support for the singer dry up.

Joining Tim in the bottom three were [[Casey James]] who was roundly criticised by the judges for giving predictable performances, and [[Aaron Kelly]] who had received praise for his version of R Kelly’s I Believe I Can Fly. Personally, I think [[Siobhan Magnus]] could have replaced Casey, for an attrocious performance of When You Believe but ho-hum. It was a first appearance in the bottom three for Casey – perhaps a sign that his popularity is fading as the judges give him increasingly lukewarm comments each week.

Tim Urban had been a last-minute addition to the American Idol final 24, replacing singer Chris Golightly when Golightly’s contractual obligations caused him to be dropped from the competition.

The Idol Gives Back show overran by about 20 minutes, but was jam packed with guest appearances. Comedian George Lopez did an insightful judging of the Idol judges, eventually ‘eliminating’ [[Simon Cowell]], but allowing him to “hang out” until the Icelandic volcanoes cleared up.

Musical performances came from Mary J Blige, Carrie Underwood, Elton John, the Black Eyed Peas and others. More on all that later though – stay tuned to Unreality Shout!

But as for Tim…will we every see his shining white teeth defiantly smiling in the face of negative comments ever again?
