American Idol: Ashley Sullivan’s group The Hits survive auditions

Next up is a group called The Hits, featuring Ashley Sullivan, whose mood has been yo-yoing all over the place. Ashley ‘quit’ [[American Idol (2011 Series)|American Idol]] the previous evening before returning to rehearse with her group.

The quartet performed an amazing bouncing version of Blu Cantrell’s Hit ‘Em Up Style, with great attitude and harmonies. It’s a brilliant choice of track (certainly makes a change from all the Bruno Mars and Rihanna in these auditions) and the audience are on their feet bopping along to the funky number. The judges are clearly impressed too – here’s what Randy Jackson had to say:

Ashley, it was a little pitchy here and there, but all-in-all you held it together and I must say, you guys were the best harmonized group I’ve seen. You’re all going through!

To be honest, I didn’t think that Ashley fit into the group particularly well, but the vibe was awesome in the end. Big compliments from Randy Jackson as well! Though with Ashley getting a comment about keeping in tune, I wonder why the other girls didn’t feature so heavily?
