No intro! Like they’re actual pros! I can barely contain myself, but this is mainly due to [[American Idol (2010 Series)|American Idol]] only being an hour tonight.
[[Katie Stevens]] with Breakaway by Kelly Clarkson.
No too bad. Little bit off on some notes, really off on others. Decent big note. Agree with Randy that it’s too big for her, and apparently she doesn’t know who she is blah blah, but who cares about what song, big, or young or whatever. Bottom line: She didn’t sing it well.
[[Siobhan Magnus]] with House of the Rising Sun by The Animals.
I’m genuinely interested to see what she does with this, and, well…. she delivers. This girl is honestly a great singer. I thought she might be pushing the kooky shit, but for me, it works. It’s like a great diva deigned to sing a bloke’s song. She’s won me over a little. Her new-found cleavage might have something to do with it, admittedly.
[[Lacey Brown]] with The Story by Brandi Carlile.
Brave girl, and she does a great job, but I was waiting for a climactic moment that never came, in a song that should be full of them. Still, those eyes, man.
[[Katelyn Epperly]] with I Feel the Earth Move by Carole King.
Girl is a good singer, and a decent keyboard player, but this was a bad song. You need a powerhouse of a voice to tackle this one, and it was missing something.
[[Didi Benami]] with Rhiannon by Fleetwood Mac.
Ho hum. Yes, yes, not a bad singer, but I’m so sick of this woman. At least she didn’t cry this time. Oops, no, there she goes…
[[Paige Miles]] with Smile by Charlie Chaplin.
Ooo, very off. Pity, as she is normally a good singer. Ellen even bites her lip as she delivers the death blow. I felt bad for her for a minute, until she explained that she got emotional because MICHAEL F**KING JACKSON recorded it. Piss off, Paige. Just piss off.
[[Crystal Bowersox]] with Give Me One Reason by Tracy Chapman
[[Lilly Scott]] with I Fall to Pieces by Patsy Cline
Is it any wonder they kept these two until the end?
Well, looks like Paige and Katie shall be on their merry way. I have to say, I’m truly impressed with how good these girls are getting, and I’m hopeful, but don’t know what for. To find a good cover artist? I’m starting to wonder again what the point is.
