Wanna hear some samples of the new Avril Lavigne album, complete with commentary from Avril herself? Well, now you can. Avril’s just released a brilliant track-by-track guide to the album, talking about each song and what it means to her.
For example, she describes the lead single, What The Hell, as being all about ‘personal freedom’. We can’t help but think that’s a thinly veiled comment on getting married quite young, coming out of it and rediscovering herself. You have to admit, like Girlfriend, it sounds like Avril’s singing in a quasi-childish voice.
She’s equally vague about a track called I Love You, where she skips naming the person she loves most in the whole world. Is she talking about her ex-husband or her current boyfriend? When was this written? I’m dying to know!
This is an excellent introduction to the Goodbye Lullaby album, it’s nice to hear the artist talking about the tracks – I’ve always loved that approach, it makes me feel like the artist gives a damn about their music. Anyway, enough waffle – here’s the video:
