‘Bang Bang Bang’! Mark Ronson’s back!

It’s a busy day for music videos today. The first one here is the new music video for Mark Ronson’s new single with his band The Business Intl, Bang Bang Bang which features American alternative rapper Q-Tip. Ronson has ditched the 2006 trend of jazzy music like Oh My God and Valerie for the current 2010 trend of ’80s synthpop.

Rather than criticise Ronson for jumping on bandwagons, I’m going to compliment him for making this fantastic song. Bang Bang Bang is so ’80s, it hurts! As is its fantastic video – which resembles a live action ’80s cartoon. The Business Intl are a band to keep an eye on, too.

Mark Ronson’s new album, The Record Collection, will be available this September. In a departure from his earlier albums, there will be “no covers” on this record. Hopefully, Mark has more gems like Bang Bang Bang on the album. And hopefully he continues to step his game up with his music videos because this goes down alongside The Gorillaz, Lady GaGa and Black Eyed Peas as one of the videos of the year.

Bugger, you scooped me again! I’d heard this one yesterday, but held off reviewing it!

The song’s a horrible, noisy mess. But perversely, I love it. The synth sounds cheap as hell, but there’s something about that cheapness – probably evokes childhood noodling on a keyboard I got for Christmas.

Love the Frenchness of the whole thing, and that little rhyme that they worked in. Q-Tip lends a brilliant guest appearance here with a cool, laid back rap. I’m so glad Ronson’s moved on to new musical genres. It kind of proves he’s got some kind of depth and blows talk of the “Ronson sound” right out of the water.

Hey, I was also meant to write about the new videos for Gorillaz, Katy Perry, Adam Lambert and B.o.B.. If you want to go ahead and review them, do so. I’m not bothered at the minute.

I agree, love the French parts in this song and Ronson showing some versatility.

Oh, I’m not annoyed – I just think it’s funny when we overlap like that. Shows we’re into very similar things. I might take the Lambert review if you don’t mind, and I believe California Gurls has had its full official video release now…

Ummm, I’ve actually already written about the new Katy Perry and Adam Lambert videos. I haven’t reviewed the singles though – I’m saving them for my weekly diaries. In relation to Adam Lambert, I’m talking about his new US single If I Had You and not his new UK single Whataya Want From Me. I’ll be happy to post my blog entries in the comments section of your review though, I have no problem doing it.
