Jim Carrey's daughter has split from her husband.

Jane Carrey – the actor’s 23-year-old daughter with first wife Melissa Womer – and Alex Santana have called time on their year-long marriage but have vowed to stay friends for the sake of their nine-month-old son Jackson Riley.

A spokesperson for Jim told In Touch Weekly magazine: “The couple will remain friends, as well as devoted parents to their nine-month-old son, Jackson Riley.”

No reason for the split has been given.

Jane is said to have taken Jackson to visit her 48-year-old father in New York, where he is currently filming 'Mr Popper's Penguins'.

Jim – who split from long-term girlfriend Jenny McCarthy earlier this year - recently spoke of his joy at being a grandfather and admitted the baby had given him a new focus on life.

He said: "I love being granddaddy, granddaddy Jim. It's very odd, it's not something I expected at this age to be.

"I just get a lot of joy, a lot of joy from that little boy , he's just magical. It's the greatest feeling in the world and as you get older, your connection to these things gets so intense. You just go, 'Without this, I die.' "
