X Factor Semi Final 5th December 2009: Stacey Solomon 'The Way You Make Me Feel'
Stacey Solomon chose The Way You Make Me Feel for her Michael Jackson song tonight. I'm a little unsure about the song choice, I think there are other MJ tracks that she could have nailed....this was a little bland for my liking.
The song was too slow for an upbeat number but too fast for a ballad, Stacey was obviously nervous when she was walking across the chairs (understandable when you consider that she took two bad falls off them last night) and it took away from the whole performance.
I like Stacey but I have to agree with Mr Cowell tonight, it was all too cabaret and her movement and routine detracted from her voice.
Louis: I wasn’t crazy about the song. I don’t think the song really suited you. I thought the whole performance took away from the voice.
Cheryl: Talk about yummy mummy, you look hot. It was nice to see you moving about the stage.
Simon: It was fine, it just wasn’t you. For me that became too cabaret. It affected your vocals at the end because you had too much to concentrate on.
Dannii: We put it together so that you weren’t (quotes) a candle singing in the middle of the stage.

I thought this was a bit too
I thought this was a bit too ambitious for Stacey so late in the game. Her vocals were definitely weaker as a result of her trying to concentrate on her dance routine. And the routine was stilted because she's used to just standing on stage singing.
That said, I do love Stacey's personality - she seems really bubbly and fun. So good luck to her. Maybe not pop star material, but I hope she finds somewhere in showbiz to fit in!
