Currently to be seen ripping out the throats of insubordinate Dothraki horsemen on HBO’s Game Of Thrones, Jason Momoa also has the major role of Conan The Barbarian coming up.
It’s a big role, not least because he’s following in Arnold Schwarznegger’s mighty (and virile, apparently) loincloths as the legendary fantasy character. Though if Momoa’s performance as Khal Drogo is anything to go by, he’ll make a fantastic warrior. In the recently released movie poster, Momoa can be seen what looks like a scaly octopus creature.
As for the Conan movie itself, here’s a quick teaser for what it’s all about. The movie is said to begin…
as a personal vendetta for the fierce Cimmerian warrior, which soon turns into an epic battle against hulking rivals, horrific monsters, and impossible odds. In the meantime, Conan realizes he is the only hope of saving the great nations of Hyboria from an encroaching reign of supernatural evil.
Momoa will be joined in the movie by actors Ron Perlman, Rose McGowan, Rachel Nichols, and Stephen Lang. Character posters for these four have also been released, and I’ll be posting these later on today for members of our Movie Lovers group, so don’t forget to join up and chat about the posters!
Conan The Barbarian is due to be released in US theaters on 19th August 2011.
