I’ve been haunting the Doctor Who website all day on the promise that [[Matt Smith]] would introduce the series finale, [[The Big Bang (Doctor Who episode)|The Big Bang]] for us.
In lieu of any sort of trailer for the episode, and only a handful of promo pics from the episode, the BBC threw Smith in front of a camera for the usual vague promises of the best finale ever.
I think it’s one of the best if not the best of the series so far. Steven’s brilliant brain firing on all cylinders. I think it’s utterly exciting, it’s emotionally a very rewarding thing of marvelous rare beauty.
And if you thought that [[The Pandorica Opens (Doctor Who episode)|The Pandorica Opens]] was a brilliant piece of writing, referencing earlier episodes in a way of revealing the subtleties of the series five story arc, then Smith promises a ‘big payoff’ for fans.
If they’ve invested in the whole series, then they’re going to get a hell of a lot of payoff. They’re going to understand a few more things about the crack in time, The Doctor and [[Amy Pond]].
In the lead-up to the finale episode, [[Steven Moffat]] will be taking part in a live Q&A about the show in a Scottish school. The event will be available on the Glow network to other schools in Scotland, and also streamed on the BBC Doctor Who website. More here.
