Family Guy: And I’m Joyce Kinney – The one where Lois Griffin does porn

It’s not often we do Family Guy reviews here on Shout, but I loved last night’s episode. I’ve grabbed a still from the intro sketch, which was a Griffin-themed take on the old Incredible Hulk series with Stewie as mild mannered David Banner and Peter as The Hulk. It was incredibly (get it?) faithful to the original intro sequence – is this possibly where Family Guy might go once it exhausts the Star Wars franchise? I hope so!

The episode proper showed Lois becoming pally with new reporter in Quahog, Joyce Kinney. And since Joyce doesn’t appear to be a homicidal maniac, Lois opens up to her about having acted in a porno movie in the 80’s.

Naturally, Joyce runs an expose on the next evening’s news. Lois gets shunned by her local church (because Christians can be so unforgiving) and Stewie – hilariously – is left wondering whether he’s a porn baby. Here’s your answer…

Stewie Griffin’s REAL father?

There’s an excellent riff on Ryan Seacrest’s sexuality when Brian uses him as an example of how Seacrest laughed off the gay innuendos and stopped people asking if he was gay. So Lois does what any right-minded person would do – she plays the porn move (Quest For Fur) to the church congregation. There’s a great moment where Brian’s in the picture, then the shot changes to something red emerging from a tube. And just when you’re thinking “Doggie erection”, it turns out to be a lipstick – brilliant!

Quick quotes

  1. Congregation: If we praise Jesus by singing all together, it makes this whole exercise seem less bizarre than it really is if you actually stand back and examine it with some objectivity. A-men.
  2. Tina Fey: I’m better than Jesus! Lois: Yes, Tina Fey, you’re better than Jesus.
  3. Meg: Yeah Griffin! Your mum’s gross and nasty! Chris: Yeah suck it! You’re a whore daughter!
