    Anna Paquin as Sookie Stackhouse

Viewers of [[True Blood (TV Series)|True Blood]] have been asking themselves for three series – what makes Sookie Stackhouse special?

The answer, revealed in the TV series just a couple of weeks ago, is that Sookie Stackhouse is part fairy. Of cours,e readers of the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris will already know this. And now more characters from the fae world are starting to trickle into Bon Temps.

In the books, Sookie’s part-fairy nature is given as a reason why supernaturals like vampires and werewolves are drawn to her. In the series, Sookie’s blood allows vampires to exist in daylight for a short time, delaying the immolation process that happens when they’re exposed to the sun.

But what’s your take? Is it good that Sookie herself is more than just a telepath, or is the fairy backstory taking it too far?
