“No Sugar” is a collaboration between legendary UK producer/DJ Joey Negro and Serbia’s Gramophonedzie. After searching high and low for a unique-sounding jazz-swing sample to use on their first tune together, they came across the moody-but-sexy ‘Sugar Sugar’ on the Soundcloud of unsigned future-jazz vocalist Shea Soul. The track, an authentic retro jazz swing ditty, fitted the bill perfectly for the drop of their new tune. Add a fierce uptempo “Count Basie meets Chicago house” groove and the ultra-catchy dance tune ‘No Sugar’ was born.

‘No sugar’ leaps out of the speakers with energetic big band brass and an infectious scat before dropping into pure 50’s-style swing showcasing Shea’s delightful vocals as she tells us that her man “Won’t get no sugar if he treats her bad”. Worldwide DJ support across the board saw the original mix go top 5 on major dance download sites Beatport, Traxsource and Juno – a rare feat for a dance record and the first since Dennis Ferrer’s “Hey Hey”. With radio support building including BBC Radio One, Kiss, Choice, Rinse, xfm and more, ‘No Sugar’ is set to continue tearing up dance floors up and down the country.
