Adam Lambert to join Queen?

Adam Lambert

If you were devastated that Adam Lambert didn't win this year's American Idol, this latest rumour might perk you up a bit: Brian May and Roger Taylor are apparently interested in having Adam join Queen as their new frontman.

The timing is brilliant: Paul Rodgers recently announced that he's quitting the group after being a stand-in for Freddie Mercury over the last few years. Lambert performed with Queen live on the American Idol finale the other night, and I can't imagine a performer better suited to carrying on Freddie Mercury's legacy.

Lambert is a flamboyant and confident performer. He's got a great vocal range and amazing stage presence. The only thing that might woprk against the arrangement is that he'd be relegated to performing mostly Queen covers rather than getting to make his stamp on new material. Anyway, check out this interview where Lambert becomes tight-lipped about the possibility of hooking up with Queen:

Wow!

I haven't seen the finale yet, but the result has obviously been everywhere which kinda spoiled things for me coz it's no secret that I have been an Adam fan from the very beginning. I wanted him to win, but to be fair any of the final 4 or 5 easily could have done it - they all were more than good enough. I knew when I heard that Adam had come second that there was no way we'd seen the last of him and that was enough for me.

I would love it if he did a stint with Queen - that would be AWESOME! But I would rather he did his own material. I hope that when (that's WHEN, not IF) he gets signed, he comes here to Scotland on tour - I would be there with bells on!

Queen obviously know talent when they see it......

I hope this does happen as Queen are the most amazing band ever.  Who better than to fill the talented shoes of the great Freddie Mercury.  Roger Taylor and Brian May know talent when they see it and don't let lifestyle choices cloud their judgements unlike a large amount of Americans......

Oooops...

Gerard and Lisa - can I just say that I didn't mean to spam the place by posting that comment three times - i just didn't think it had gone through. When I clicked save, I just got taken to a blank page - sorry!

Adam and Queen? I think so.

I actually heard this rumor the night of the Idol finale! My sources were music industry people so I thought it might be credible.

Note that Adam did not say "no" when asked. He has probably been advised by whatever legal team is handling this to not say anything until all contracts have been signed.

I would see this show in a heartbeat. Simon Cowell must be devastated.

Yessssssssssss!

I never disbelieved it and as you say, the fact that he kinda sidestepped a straight answer does point to the fact that it's probably true - AWESOME!!! Can't wait!
