My Relationship with Claudia Brown and Jenny Lewis
Those who read my posts might have noticed that I quite like Primeval and after last night's episode I was thinking about my relationship with the characters of Claudia and Jenny because, I think, it's been the most complex involvement I've had with any of the characters. Everyone else was easy to love straight away. With Claudia that was not so.
Initially I couldn't stand Claudia Brown thinking she was a just a boring female love interest for Nick Cutter - she was my least favourite character, then, rewatching the first series, I thought she was actually kind of great, she had the right amount of spunk, and just generally worked well with Nick Cutter. Their relationship, which at first seemed kind of cringey to me, was also really sweet.
Cue series two, no Claudia Brown, I was somewhat thrilled about this because it was still my anti-Claudia phase. I was pleased they introduced Jenny, though I didn't like her as a person she was a good character, she was tough and it was never going to be smooth sailing for her because, well, obviously the Claudia Brown connection and also because she was a complete hardass and very high maintenance (I loved her appearance - high heels, sophisticated hair and glossy lipstick - reflected this and contrasted directly with Claudia's 'soft' and casual appearance). I liked how there was a turn in Jenny's personality in S02E04 (that was actually probably my favourite episode in terms of character development - it was when Connor admitted the true extent of his feelings to Abby as well :D) and you saw her softening to Nick Cutter and the rest of the team. I always enjoyed the fact that it was inevitable she'd fall for him and he was just still really confused about Jenny Lewis.
I didn't like her being so visually softened in S03, it seemed far too much like she was turning into Claudia Brown, that said I think she damn near broke my heart this week when she was going through Nick Cutter's possessions and found the picture of Claudia Brown (even though I've always wondered a) where the heck Nick Cutter got that from, and, b) surely it would have faded when evolution changed), was talking about Nick Cutter and said that it was the time for her too leave.

Oh, Jenny... and really they were setting it up so much that Danny Quinn was falling for her which I kind of expected was going to be the next 'Nick Cutter and Claudia Brown' romance but apparently Jenny has hidden depths and is leaving (that said it was left open for her so perhaps she will come back). And that genuinely upsets me because she's a good character and it's so soon after Nick Cutter and Stephen and it's like I'm mourning these characters and it is the end of era - I don't think I've ever been this emotionally involved with a show. I feel like a child being told the TMNT aren't real or something.
That said they've introduced some good characters this series - Danny Quinn is brilliant (in a completely different way to Nick Cutter) and Sarah Page I'm sure could be pretty feisty (that's such a feminine description, isn't it? You never hear about men being feisty. Danny Quinn is feisty too...) if they gave her the chance. As I've stated what I'm not happy about is this whole 'O HAI THAR I BROKE UR HERO SO I MADE YOU ANOTHER' vibe going on with Danny replacing Nick Cutter.
NO ONE WILL EVER REPLACE NICK CUTTER.
And I wish that, rather than introducing a male character to 'be' Nick and a female to play the Jenny role, they had made it a team effort sort of show (like when Andrew Lincoln left Teachers). Who know, maybe they will play that way...
I am aware that I've neglected Becker as a new addition to the team. It's because I like to pretend he doesn't exist.

Claudia/Jenny & Nick
I have always loved Claudia Brown as a character! And Lucy Brown is deffinately one of the strongest actresses. I loved the whole Clauda/Nick love story and was so upset when the vanished her and just as Jenny began to get close to him, they ousted Nick. I think they lost a lot of viewers interest after the exit of Jenny & Nick and I seriously hope they consider bringing Nick and Claudia back together somehow.
I am a real fan of Primeval but it just isn't the same without the lovely Claudia & Nick, who I must say is a fantastic actor and has the yummiest voice ever.
Thank you Dougie & Lucy!

primeval
i really like the claudia and nick thing and i liked the way he was always looking at jenny in episode 2 se2 also the only reason i can think of of why the picture of claudia dindt dissapear is because he took it through the anomoly with him there for he not only kept his memories of her but also his pictures. i also really don't like danny and i dont know why, he just really annoys me.
i LOVE nick and claudias
i LOVE nick and claudias relationship, and was thrilled when jenny FINALLY started acting (haha!) like claudia and softened a bit! i think they are great, i have them as my background, my list of favorites is full of them (from utube), there all over my msn and i was reeeeaaalllly upset wen she dissapeared, but then at least jenny came around eventually.
