Hogwarts, horcruxes and of course Harry Potter. The final chapter in the massive movie franchise that has transformed the movie industry* is about to hit the cinemas. And so the first official trailer for Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 has hit the interwebs for our viewing pleasure.
First thoughts? Well, after the snorefest of Harry Potter and the Endless Camping Trip (aka Part 1), this final instalment looks a little more…explosive!
We’ve got Voldemort sneering at Harry, and old scarhead pulling the snake-faced one off the edge of a bridge. We’ve got a ghostly glimpse of Dumbledore, briefly coming back from the dead in a Return Of The Jedi style.
There’ll be dragons, lots of fire and explosions (pat yourselves on the back, CGI Department), characters you’ve completely forgotten will return for the Battle Of Hogwarts. And one unlucky ginger person will die! People who haven’t read the books will be in for a surprise, while the rest of us revel in seeing how Warner Bros have translated the second half of the book to the big screen.
I don’t know about you lot, but it’s been so long since I read the book that I can’t actually remember what happens. So some of the scenes here are a bit baffling. Now might be a good time to revisit the final book in the Harry Potter series and refresh our memories.
And I’m still holding out hope that Dumbledore’s phoenix will be the key to his rebirth. Damnit, he was like a father to Harry. Or grandfather. Whatever.
* well, not really
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 hits the cinemas on July 15th. And it’ll be in 3D. Fingers crossed they’ve converted Part 1 in time, then we can do marathon Deathly Hallows sessions!
