It’s the return of outlandish headgear for Katie Waissel on tonight’s [[The X Factor 2010|X Factor]] – she’s wearing an enormous snow-white wig with scary long white fake lashes.
But in an evening of slightly tepid performances, Katie’s jazzy version of Bewitched was a fun little romp in the midst of some ropey singing. Her voice was on top form, she danced around the stage with the confidence of a professional. Katie may be as annoying and as fame-hungry as the tabloids say, but she really knows how to bring the fun and entertain the audience.
Was it a shock to any of you to discover that Bewitched wasn’t just the theme tune to a popular 60’s sitcom – it’s actually a song in its own right? Wow.
Despite the minor faux pas with Katie’s headgear and spidery eyelashes, I thought she gave a fantastic performance. And screw what Simon Cowell said about Cher Lloyd giving the performance of the season – I thought Katie gave the strongest performance of all the female singers tonight bar none.
- Louis Walsh: Last week was great and this week was just as good. Katie, some people were born to be on the stage and be a performer and you’re one of them. Every week you’re different. You look different, you sing different. And you’re happy. You got a lot of negativity at the start of the competition.
- Dannii Minogue: Last week was definitely your week, you identified your style and you’re bringing it every week. I have to say, the makeup was a little bit scary tonight. It was a little bit distracting from the singing.
- Cheryl Cole: That’s what I love and adore about you – you throw yourself into things headfirst and you put your heart into it. You sang amazingly.
- Simon Cowell: I said that the first time I met you, you are like a singing scarecrow. I think this competition would be a more boring place without you. You’ve shown that you don’t take yourself too seriously. You’re like Gwen Stefani or someone like that. There’s a new generation of popstars coming along now who are more fun.
