Ke$ha premieres the colourful new video for new single Your Love Is My Drug

Popstar Ke$ha has premiered the new video for her single Your Love Is My Drug, the third single from her debut album Animal. Unlike her terrible 3OH!3 collaboration Blah Blah Blah, Your Love Is My Drug is a much more enjoyable effort from the singer, a fun little pop song that actually manages to be fairly clean and stays away from Ke$ha’s usual song subject matter of getting trashed on a night out.

Speaking of clean, Ke$ha scrubs up mighty fine for this video. She’s actually rather stunning when it doesn’t look like she’s climbed out of a gutter after a night of drunken debauchery. The Honey directed clip is also probably the best video she’s done yet. Filmed out in the desert with a hippie love interest, the video makes use of animal imagery that seems to be the theme of the parent album before going all hallucinogenic with some vivid animated sequences. The Native American fashion and glow paint on her body, the same as what she wore on Saturday Night Live, are also nice touches.

Despite Ke$ha’s popularity in the charts, she has been criticised often as “talentless” by the media. While she doesn’t have the best vocal chops in the World, I think this is a false statement. She writes her own songs and, unlike Lady GaGa, who gets more and more pretentious and ego-centric by the day, Ke$ha just seems to be having a little fun and doesn’t seem to take herself seriously.

Your Love Is My Drug is released on the 7th June here. Peep the video below.

I like what you’re saying here, there’s a lot of truth in that statement: Gaga nearly feels like she’s trying too hard, but running out of tricks. And if I’m honest, some of Ke$ha’s songs have been irritating me, but that’s because the hooks get stuck in my head.

True, Ke$ha’s music can be irritating. Just look at her last single Blah Blah Blah. I’m not saying that Ke$ha is this generation’s answer to Mozart or anything. But, I actually find her likeable. I find that I can identify with her somewhat because she reminds me of a lot of girls I know.

Lady GaGa, despite being more talented and probably making better pop tunes, seems to get more and more withdrawn from society everyday and as you said she seems to be trying to hard to be a kooky artiste.
