Have you been down in the dumps since House drove a hole in Cuddy’s living room so big that she left the show, never to be seen again? Common symptoms include crying into your cornflakes, Googling the term “hot Jewish MILFs” and considering sending Hugh Laurie hate mail.
We say “considering” because…well, everybody LOVES Hugh Laurie and we’d never blame him for Lisa Edelstein’s departure from House. No, we’re blaming the execs who couldn’t manage a simple salary negotiation…grrr.
Good news though – Lisa Edelstein will be back on our screens. It’s been confirmed today that she’s joining the hit legal drama The Good Wife as “a lawyer who has a penchant for poker and may have ties to Will”. Sounds about as far removed from Cuddy as possible!
It sounds like Edelstein will be sexing up the role and she’s sticking around for “a multi-episode arc”, so she’ll be hanging around for a while. And dare we speculate that giving her a few episodes might be a way of assessing whether she’d be a good regular cast member?
Edelstein fans should be rapturous about this news – after all, the prospect of having to watch another contrived reconciliation between Cuddy and House would have spoiled our year. Much better that Edelstein breaks out of a seven-year run in House with a short-but-significant spot in The Good Wife. I think it’ll be a good career transition for her.
