National TV Awards- What A Night!

The National TV Awards aired on Wednesday with TV’s finest dressing up to impress. The winners varied from Celebrity Juice to Alan Carr to X Factor winning vital awards. I take a look at the winners and who should of won this year’s TV awards.

Dermot O’Leary hosted the National TV awards on Wednesday. The winners included some surprises and shock and the night included performances from Little Mix, The choir and Ant and Dec with Bruce Forsyth. There was also special recognition for David Walliams, Gary Barlow and Jonathon Ross.

Drama: The Winner was Downton Abbey, which has gained popularity and gone from strength to strength. The show that is gaining popularity in the US was a deserving winner but I think Waterloo Road also could have been a worthy winner. The show is still going strong into its seventh series.

Reality Tv: The Winner was I’m A Celebrity, this stunned me as I was expecting The Only Way is Essex to achieve this prize after being more popular than ever. Come Dine With Me and The Apprentice were outsiders but I was surprised about this win. However it was a brilliant series and I loved Mark and Dougie and Ant and Dec made me laugh as much as ever.

Talent Show: The Winner was The X Factor. This didn’t surprise me although they were criticized a lot for the series and the new judges didn’t go down well. The X Factor is still just as popular than ever and their main competition really was Strictly, who often beat the X Factor this series with ratings. Britain’s Got Talent could be a potential winner next year with the return of Simon…

Talk Show: The Winner was Alan Carr. This one was quite a hard one as all of the shows; Jonathon Ross, Graham Norton, Loose Women and Alan Carr are very popular. I think that Alan Carr’s show was a deserving winner as I love his interviewing style and he has gained more popularity after his Christmas and New Year shows. I think Graham would have been his main competition as he gets huge guests.

Game show: The Winner was Celebrity Juice. They were always going to win this after Keith Lemon’s show was nominated. He has a huge fan base and the show is hilarious. The other nominees were for a different age group really who might not have voted.

Entertainment Presenter: The Winner was, surprise, Ant and Dec. I love the boys and everything they present turns to gold. They make Britain’s Got Talent and I’m A Celeb with their funny expressions. They always win this and the year they don’t will be when their career is going down the drain! I love Dermot though and I think that he would also be a worthy winner. Michael and Keith also were strong competition.

Entertainment Programme. The Winner was Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow: This was quite a surprise although the show is hilarious and very popular. I was surprised Take Me Out didn’t win as it’s brilliant and very popular and I think it would have been a close call. Dynamo and Harry Hill are also brilliant and worthy nominees.

Factual: The Winner was This Morning: The show has a loyal fan base and they didn’t even have to get Gino to get naked this year. I think the show is a breath of fresh air and Holly has definitely made the show more popular. Big Fat Gypsy Wedding would have been close competition as it’s popular and gets huge ratings. Also the hilarious Idiot abroad would have been a worthy winner too.

Comedy: The Winner was Outnumbered: This was a surprise as I believed that Miranda would of won this. Outnumbered is very popular though and very funny but Benidorm and Miranda are also worthy winners so any of the three would have been good.

Drama Performance, Male: The winner was Matt Smith. The doctor might not be as popular as David Tennant but has won over viewers with his quirky version of the doctor. David from Shameless would of also been a worthy winner after being in the show for years

Drama Performance, Female: The winner was Karen Gillan: Second strike for Doctor Who! The actress has been very popular and will be missed when she leaves. Suranne Jones would have been a close second with her brilliant acting in Scott and Bailey.

Soaps: The Winner was Corrie: This was a great win after not much recognition over the last year or so. I love Eastenders and I think their storylines have been much stronger but it was good to see Corrie win something for a change. Their tram crash never won too many awards last year so I’m glad they won Best Soap this year.

Newcomer: The Winner was Jacqueline Jossa: This wasn’t very surprising after she has fit into the character of Lauren very well and the viewers really like her. It’s always hard to recast a character but she plays her brilliantly. Chris hasn’t really done much yet as Tommy but Chelsea could have been a worthy winner too.

Dramatic performance: The Winner was Katherine Kelly. She deserved this after playing Becky so well and making the public fall for her. She will be missed from Corrie and I hope she has every success. Alison King, Jessie Wallace and Danny Miller would of also been worthy winners.

I’m A Celeb deserved that win.  The tedious TOWIE programme did not.  Celeb is very entertaining and Ant & Dec are terrific presenters.  Well done lads!
