It seems that you can’t avoid Prince at the moment. And why would you want to? The apparently ageless 80’s legend recently announced a five date tour called “Welcome 2 America”.
Prince’s two nights at Madison Square Garden on the 18th and 29th December sold out in 30 minutes. He’s also playing the Izod Center in New Jersey on the 14th, 15th and 17th December. We caught one of the Purple One’s shows at the O2 Arena in London a couple of years back – anybody who catches this dude live is in for a real treat. For such a small guy, he lives and breathes music and has the entire audience in the palm of his hand for the duration of the show.
Oooh, I’m jealous.
Prince will perform and play master of ceremonies at each show, which will also feature Janelle Monae, Mint Condition, Esperanza Spalding, Cassandra Wilson, Maceo Parker and Sheila E.
UK fans also got a treat today when it was revealed that Prince may perform on the X Factor 2010 final. We’re not sure if that’s a bit of presumptious news leaking from the X Factor publicity machine, but if it’s true, it’ll be one of the biggest finals the show has ever seen! I can’t see him performing alongside one of the finalists though – he refused to do that with American Idol contestants in 2005.
