Alexandra Burke releases Haiti video blog
Former X Factor winner Alexandra Burke has released a video blog, which she filmed during her time in Haiti.
Alex flew out to offer her help to victims of the recent Haiti earthquake and was moved by the devastation she found in the country.
Writing in her personal blog she said:
Seeing families who don’t know if they’re going to eat day by day, or don’t even know where they will sleep every night truly is devastating. And what has made it worse is that its coming up to hurricane season and these people have nowhere to live. Many are in tents or living under trees or in temporary shelters. Some people are moving to places to escape the devastation of their homes yet all may be facing more problems in the months to come and they need more help to survive that.
Who knows how long it will take to re build their lives, they are starting from nothing. This country was already very poor and now even many of those people that did have homes are left without places to live. Most have no way of earning to put food on their tables for their families let alone start ro rebuild homes. But what I do know is that we can make that difference, what might be something small to us is truly a big difference to them.
Alexandra Burke - Broken Heels - Single Review
Alexandra begins her latest single, Broken Heels with a playful call to producer Red One - "You know we can do it better than you, we can do it even better in broken heels!" After dusting up some brawlers in the video for Bad Boys, Burke returns with an anthem for the ladies.
Broken Heels is an uptempo triumph - capturing a little of that The Boy Does Nothing beat which temporarily made Alesha Dixon the nation's sweetheart a while back. It's cheeky, it's sassy, it's totally Alexandra Burke.
The video's a complete hoot, too - Alex and her gal pals dressed up in American football gear acting out some hot football fantasies. The thing is, it reminds me of that scene from Scary Movie where Brenda's super-camp boyfriend encourages her to dress up in football gear and inadvertently calls her Brandon while they're romping on the bed! If you haven't seen that scene, I implore you to get that movie out!
Of course, in the X Factor world, Alexandra is the Whitney to Leona Lewis's Mariah - bolshy, brash and very very funny. Even listening to her in interviews like catching a one-woman hen night, which is why I love this single for Alexandra and I'm kind of glad Syco don't have her pumping out power ballads like her life depended on it.
Alexandra Burke's new single - Broken Heels
The Alexandra Burke machine keeps on rolling, with Broken Heels reportedly the third single from her debut album, Overcome.
Nice to see her keeping it uptempo with this busy pop track, which owes more than a little bit to Alesha Dixon's The Boy Does Nothing. It's got that same funky pop vibe, with the ever-bolshy Burke claiming that "anything you can do, we can do better/we can even do it better in broken heels".
There are a few suggestive lyrical moments, including the "you grow hard, yes you do..." which kind of push the boundaries (and I'm guessing exclude a primetime weekend plug on X Factor) unless they make a last-minute change!
No video available for the single just jet, but Alexandra is said to be rehearsing in Los Angeles for the shoot. She said on Twitter:
2nd Day of rehearsals for BROKEN HEELS! OMG! I hope u guys love this video! Me and my girls are working HARD!!! :-)
Looking forward to it, and still loving Bad Boys... I'll post the video when it gets released!
VIDEO REVIEW: Alexandra Burke featuring Flo Rida: 'Bad Boys'
It seems like an age rather than a mere three and a half weeks since Alexandra Burke's debut single* Bad Boys first premiered on the Chris Moyles show on BBC Radio 1. And once we had gotten over the shock of finding out that this single wouldn't be the typical post X-Factor ballad (holy cow!), it would, in fact, be a highly danceable electropop tune (get outta here!) and it would feature everyone's favourite American rap gentleman, Flo Rida (*faints*). We've all been waiting for the bloody music video already!
Is this a preview of Alexandra Burke's second single, 'Bad Boys'?
Hot on the heels of my last post about Alexandra Burke, I did a bit of digging into her next single, Bad Boys, which is said to feature Flo Rida. Now there's a lead on this forum that suggests Alexandra's single was previously recorded by an artist called Jadyn Maria. Interestingly, the title of Jadyn's version is Good Girls Like Bad Boys, and it features a rap from...guess who? Flo Rida.
Interesting.
Now, with the new single to debut in Britain on the Chris Moyles Show on 25 August, what are the bets that this is the song we'll hear? Check out the Jadyn Maria version:
Overcome by Alexandra Burke, a quick review
Well, with a new series of X Factor already rolling, it's time to start aggressively promoting the former winner's new single. A track called Overcome has leaked onto the web, and although it's not an official single, I thought we'd give it a quick review here.
Give the video above a whirl and tell us what you think. It certainly follows the strict criteria for any X Factor winner:
