Competing in 'Strictly Come Dancing' was a "terrific" start to Ann Widdecombe's retirement.
The former Conservative minister - who bowed out of the BBC One show on Sunday (05.12.10) - admitted she only took part in the series for a bit of "fun" and never expected to become so popular with viewers.
She said: "I went on the show for fun and I've had more fun that I thought I would have. It's been a terrific start to retirement. I never expected the public reaction to be as big as it was. And I never expected to enjoy the whole experience.
Ann Widdecombe has become the ninth contestant to be voted off 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
The former Conservative minister - who became a firm favourite with the public, despite receiving consistently low scores from the BBC One show's judging panel - admitted the joke was over and she was "disappointed" to go.
After becoming renowned for her hilarious dance moves, which often saw her being dragged along the floor by her professional partner Anton Du Beke, the 63-year-old claimed she had "the time of her life" on the celebrity dance contest.
She said: "I never expected to win, but I gave it my best shot and I wasn't going to give up. I had the time of my life.
Ann Widdecombe will dance with Craig Revel Horwood on the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ live tour.
The former politician - who is partnering Anton du Beke in the current series of the competition – is excited about taking to the floor with the judge, despite his regular criticism of her “wooden” performances.
She said: “I am very much looking forward to dancing with Craig after all the rude remarks he has made.”
Craig is hoping he can teach Ann some of his own dancing skills.
He said: “I can’t wait to get my hands on her.”
Anton Du Beke draws the short straw on this year's Strictly Come Dancing with Ann Widdecombe as his dance partner! Such a wonderful mismatch!
The dumpy politician is wearing what looks like a pink PVC dress. Anton looks like he's dancing with his granny, he's bravely holding his lines. But did he actually pull a move from the Ministry Of Funny Walks? Or was that just my imagination? The two of them end their routine in fits of laughter and the crowd goes wild with applause.
