X Factor Queen Week: Jamie Archer sings Radio Gaga

I am a huge Jamie Archer fan and I was really looking forward hearing him rock out to Queen tonight. However Jamies performance of Radio Gaga was bland and a bit flat for me.

I loved the new smart suited look, though his orphan Annie style curls were a little too 'styled' for a supposed rock singer.

Beset by some tuning issues, Jamie tried to get a little audience participation crammed into his performance, but the singing was still ever so flat. He pushed out a decent ending but I think it was his worst performance yet

X Factor rock week: Jamie Archer – Get Your Rocks Off

We always knew that this wuld be a good week for Jamie Archer. He was made for Rock Week for goodness sake!

Jamie's performance of 'Get Your Rocks Off' was surely the best of the night. Flawless vocal (though he was a little overpowered by the backing track at times), great stage presence and how very gorgeous he looked!

Louis says he's not original....hello, Westlife, really?

Dannii: You’re in your element when you do that kind of song. I heard you were going to do a different track that would make you contemporary rather than doing an old rock song.

Louis: Like I said on the VT, there’s nothing original about you, you’re like a Lenny Kravitz impersonator, and it’s not real rock.

Simon: You came from that background – you wanna be a rock singer and you chose a rock song.

X Factor week 3: Jamie ‘Afro’ Archer- Angel Of Harlem

Jamie Archer seemed genuinely worried about tonight's song choice. Not a wonder when you consider he had six days less than the other acts to practice it. Again I do wonder about the judges definitions of 'big band' songs, but it's no bad thing that Jamie got a U2 song, because I can't imagine him singing a Sinatra one can you?

Louis Walsh criticised Simon Cowell for choosing a U2 song during big band week, but why then didn't he criticise Dannii for choosing Proud Mary for Rachel. That was hardly a big band song either.

I think that Jamie did as well in Big Band week as could be expected. Actually he did much better than I could have predicted. He has hopefully done enough to coast through to next week when Bon Jovi will be mentoring the acts. How cool will that be?

X Factor: Jamie 'Afro' Archer sings 'Hurt'

Jamie Archer was undoubtedly the best singer on tonight's X Factor. I love that he Louis Walsh called him unversatile, so he comes out and belts out a very back to basics version of Christina Aguilera's 'Hurt.'

He had no gospel choir backing him up, no loud backing track but he was truly amazing. Dannii Minogue loved that his life experience shone through and Cheryl supported the song choice. i think it is the strongest vocal that Jamie has given on the show so far and he certainly wiped the floor with Danyl Johnson.

Dannii – Jamie Jamie, you can tell you’ve had experience singing live, I love it when you rock out, a really softness to that song well done.

Simon – That was absolutely fantastic, I tell you why I really liked that, it felt, real, honest, that works in the world, outside this competition – brilliant!

Cheryl – Totally agree with Dannii, by the end you made it your own and it was a great song choice.

X Factor: Jamie Archer 'Afro' Sings With Or Without You

So Jamie Afro took to stage tonight and injected a bit of life into a U2 song. Easily done I hear you say? You wouldn't be so sure if you'd heard the acts preceeding him murdering the song, time after time.

Our Gerard HATES Jamies and blogged tonight:

Finally, professional hairball and sometime singer, Jamie Afro is still bleating about being 34 and this being his last chance. God, the Lou Ferrigno comparisons are cruel but accurate, aren’t they? Sorry to bitch about this, but I love rock music, and Jamie’s ‘rock voice’ is only going to appeal to bland mainstreamers who wouldn’t know the difference. After an X Factor make-over, they’ll turn him into a third-rate Lenny Kravitz. Louis calls him a crowd-pleaser, Simon called him a bit corny.
