A collaboration between Katy Perry and cuddly teddy-bear-slash-producer Timbaland should be a joyous thing - Perry's all-pervasive suggestiveness fused to Timbaland's stock beats.

And that's what If We Ever Meet Again is - an almost seamless wedding of two distinctive artists - the musical lovechild of Perry and Timbaland. It starts with some guitar arpeggios - Katy's influence - and Timbaland on verse singing like he's swallowed the autotune machine. The chorus has a classic pop/rock hook attached which kind of redeems the forgettable verses.

Colorado electro-dance outfit 3OH!3 have teamed up with Katy Perry for this remix of their song Starstrukk. Adding Perry to the mix has certainly made the tune all the more attractive for the males among us, not least because of a certain wet-dress scene where Perry poses in a fountain! I love a girl who has no problem with being an object of lust!

Starstrukk is one of those songs where you don't bother trying to decipher the lyrics, the video does that for you - and the guys are clearly in sex fantasy territory. They romp around a magic wishing fountain until the whole thing turns out - predictably - to just be a dream.

It's not a secret that I love Katy Perry: brilliant tunes, slightly mad and absolutely gorgeous. And I'm pleased to see her latest single, Waking Up In Vegas is now gracing every music channel.

Musically, Waking Up In Vegas is a fine rock anthem. The song itself lacks some of the kookiness that her earlier singles had. It's more of a conventional rock tune, to the point that it could have been sung by that other American belter, Kelly Clarkson.
