Olly Murs

X Factor final 12th December: Olly Murs sings Fool In Love

For Olly Murs final song he chose to sing his favourite song of the series, Fool In Love.

It was Olly doing what Olly does best, singing a bit, dancing a lot!

Louis: That was my favourite song of yours from the series. You’re sexy, you’re soulful, you’re a showman. You own the stage, you’re a natural talent. I hope you’re here again tomorrow.

Dannii: Definitely your best performance from the series.

Cheryl: It was amazing to see the improvement from the first time you sung it til now. You sung it like it was your last performance.

Simon: I really really hope this isn’t the last time you’re going to be singing. You’ve been an absolute pleasure to work with. As a person, I’m really proud of what you’ve achieved.

X Factor final 12th December: Olly Murs and Robbie Williams sing 'Angels'

Olly Murs looked visibly nervous when he tok to the stage tonight as he waited for Robbie Williams to appear.

He handled the vocals well on his own but then Robbie took to stage.

Ok, before we start this and all you Robbie lovers blast me, I LOVE Robbie Williams. But when he took to the X Factor stage tonight, he did cock up on a major level.

As he emerged onto the stage, to join Olly in a rendition of Angels, he missed his cue and for the rest of the song he looked close to tears. Olly Murs looked like he was going to crap himself!

There definitely wasn't the professionalism that was visible during Stacey Solomon's routine with Michael Buble, but there was a great rapport. I hope the mistake won't cost Olly his place on tomorrow night's show.

X Factor final 12th December: Olly Murs sings Superstition

Olly Murs took to the X Factor stage in second place tonight and belted out his audition song, Superstition.

His VT showed him and Simon flying home to Essex in Cowell's helicopter and it was super strange to see Simon sitting eating pudding in Olly's living room.

I'm the first to admit that Olly may not be the best singer on the show, but he sure can move and those trousers are tight!!! You could say that he has the whole package ;) I hope those dancers had a good defuzzing before Olly skidded under them, because he certainly got an eyeful of their lady parts!

Louis: Olly, oh my god! Not many people can sing Stevie Wonder and do the silly dancing. You’ve definitely got the X Factor Olly.

Dannii: What a fantastic performance. Such a great song for you, so good to hear you singing that again.

X Factor Semi Final 5th December 2009: Olly Murs 'We Can Work It Out'

Olly Murs chose 'We Can Work It Out' (The Stevie Wonder version) as his second song for tonight's X Factor semi final.

I found the whole thing a little strange and definitely not a conventional X Factor tune. The dancing was a little OTT in fact at one point I was sure he was having a fit of some sort and a bit desperate though the vocals were pretty good.

Olly didn't float my boat with this number but what did you think? Leave your comments below.

Louis: Another great performance. You have the likability factor and I like the fact that you didn’t choose a well known song.

Dannii: Always a good performance. I’m not sure that song showed your vocals off to their best ability.

Simon: This takes me back to the very first time we saw you – you’re the guy next door who dreamt of being a popstar and you thoroughly deserve to be in the final next week.

X Factor Semi Final 5th December 2009: Olly Murs 'Can You Feel It'

Olly Murs opened tonight's X Factor show with the Michael Jackson classic 'Can You Feel It.'

Whilst Olly isn't as strong a vocalist as some of the other remaining contestants and was a bit pitchy at the start of the song, luckily he has more than enough charisma and energy to make up for it.

I was a little concerned about this song for Olly tonight as it is soooo fast paced. However Olly managed to integrate all elements of the routine perfectly. The crotch grabbing was a fitting tribute to MJ and he didn't even topple off the tower of steps in the middle of the stage, an achievment I think you'll agree.

I loved it, what about you?

Louis: You’re an all-round entertainer, you deserve to be in the final.

Dannii: Can you feel it? Yes, we can all feel it in the whole room tonight. You have the full package! You have to be in the final next week.

X Factor 28th November 2009: Olly Murs - Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting

Olly Murs  took on Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting as his Elton John chocie tonight and may have given his best performance of the series.

He sang, he danced, though we have to admit there was way too much backing track behind him. It was a typical Murs performance, notched up a gear in a bid to get to the semi final.

Louis: I loved you in round 1. It was an unusual song choice for you. I like your funny dancing and I like you, but there was something missing for me.

Dannii: Move over round 1 was OK, round 2 was an absolute knockout. I’m really happy that the grandpa suit’s gone. That was absolutely a smash.

Cheryl: I don’t know how on earth you concentrated with all those sexy girls around you. But you did it and you did it really well.

Simon: It was the Olly we really loved from the very beginning, back in the competition with a great song, great performance and you really added something tonight. You made it sound like the song was written for you.

X Factor 28th November 2009: Olly Murs - Love Ain’t Here Anymore

Olly Murs tried his hand at a ballad tonight for the first time on the X Factor. I think it was his strongest week yet.

At the start of the performance he was singing to a very scared looking girl in the front row, it was a little chessy sure but I would have paid to sit in her seat.

As unexcited as I am by his brown waistcoat and trousers ensemble, the song really suits his voice. And I’m so glad we don’t have to watch the ‘cheeky dancing’ that’s become his trademark. Olly hit all the high notes, managed the key change and added some great wee inflections with his vocals.

Louis: Everywhere I go people are telling me how much they like you. I’m glad you got your confidence back, that song totally suited you and I think you deserve to be in the final three.

Dannii: I really admired you for getting up there, but the sparkle wasn’t completely in your eyes for that song.

X Factor Queen Week: Olly Murs – Don’t Stop Me Now

Olly has won our heart week to week with his charm and personality more than his singing and tonight this proved to be the case again.

Olly's vocals were weak on the Queen song and at times the notes were too low for his vocal register. However the performance was great, the energy was high and the dance break was a little strange but very funny. I loved it!

Judges Comments

Dannii Minogue: You’re absolutely the best performer we have on the show by far. Your dance moves are absolutely incredible. Musically though, it swallowed up your vocals.

Louis Walsh: That was an electrifying performance. Everything about it. You are the person that everybody has to beat. You remind me of Robbie Williams, Gary Barlow, but probably better.

Cheryl Cole: I think you’re in here for the long haul Olly.

X Factor rock week: Olly Murs - Come Together by The Beatles’

I wasn't sure if Olly Murs could pull off a rock song tonight, but thankfully Simon gave him a pussy of a song, Come Together by The Beatles. Great song, but hardly requiring major singing chops. I’m loving the trippy background visuals though. It ain’t rock, but like Joe McElderry before him, it’s just a good performance – the vocals are fine…argh too much nipple. Put it away Murs!!!

Dannii: I have to say I absolutely adore you. The moves get better every week, the vocals are consistent. Louis: You keep getting better every time we see you. I think you’re in the final three. Cheryl: You’re definitely the most progressed contestant each week. You come into yourself more and more each week. In this atmosphere, the shirt opening kinda worked. Simon: You are progressing better than just about anybody right now. You’ve got confidence, you’re learning how to perform. I’m very very proud of you Olly.
