Torchwood
Torchwood newsflash: Ianto Jones dead?

OMG! The evil alien invaders, the 456 decided to show Jack Harkness that they're serious about wiping out the human race. They release an airborne virus within the Thames House building that Jack and Ianto are inside.
It's a classic show of strength, but it's too late to evacuate. Ianto realises that things are dire and he and Jack say their goodbyes to each other. Ianto echoing the theme that Jack's daughter mentioned at the start of the series - Jack will outlive everybody that he loves.
And slowly, Ianto dies in Jack's arms. It's sad, romantic and tragic all at once. After Ianto dies, Jack falls victim to the virus as well and dies for a short while.
Is there any hope for Ianto coming back? The only thing I can think of is that Jack kissed him on the lips. Hasn't Jack saved lives that way in the past? I don't know. After the loss of Owen and Tosh at the end of the last series, losing Ianto is as painful for fans as it probably was for Jack! Torchwood become a team of two.
Are you hoping Ianto will be resurrected, or is he permanently dead?
Torchwood - Children Of Earth, Day 4
Fourth day of Children Of Earth continues to intrugue. Now, aside from the bombastic explosion at Torchwood HQ, there hasn't been much in the way of blow-out special effects in this series. The emotional drama is taking precedence, and that's a good thing.
Tonight's episode balances the inner workings of Davies' fictional government with the sinister machinations of the 456, who are looking for a nice round 10% of the child population of Earth. Hence the clever title of the series.
As per my other reviews for this series of Torchwood, this post is heavily spoilered.
Torchwood - Children Of Earth, Day 3
Day 3 of Torchwood's Children Of Earth could have gone so badly. As I remarked to someone earlier today, the first two days have been taken up with the shennanigans with the Hub getting blown up and Jack needing to regrow his body. And stuff.
Now we get to the real meat of the story, that simmering alien plot that the British government are somehow complicit in. And if you were wondering if Jack would see out the rest of the miniseries in t-shirt and trackies, fear not. Ianto manages to track down an authentic copy of his original overcoat.
Now, lest you need some warning, spoilers ahead.
Tonight's third episode took us further into the story proper, and we have discovered that the sinister 456 are using the Earth as some kind of fast food joint - "I'll have 10% of the Earth's children to go, please. Can I get some prawn crackers with that?"
Torchwood - Children Of Earth, Day 2
Ohmygod, Jack Harkness is going to have to get the decorators in to repair the Torchwood office. It's been given a brand new skylight by the military force associated with the Home Office. And yet no-one's going to question this vast underground bunker under central Cardiff, are they?
Yet with the Torchwood HQ blasted wide open is the least of Jack and Co's problems. Here we go with my recap and review of Children Of Earth, Day 2. Major spoilers ahead, so cover your eyes if you're a transatlantic type...
Torchwood - Children Of Earth, Day 1
If you had any doubts about how a five-part mini Torchwood series would work out, then the first episode of Torchwood: Children Of Earth should have soothed those fears.
I'll confess, I went into this episode expecting a train wreck. The 'Children of Earth' concept bugged me slightly - hoardes of brats around the world suddenly frozen and chanting the words of their alien overlords. Hmmm, wasn't it the old Doctor Who special, The Christmas Invasion, where aliens remote controlled a subset of the human population? Forgive me for seeing a slightly recycled concept here.
Torchwood - They Keep Killing Suzie, episode review
I'm catching an old episode of Torchwood tonight, one in which Cardiff's version of Men In Black arrive at the scene of a double murder to discover that the word Torchwood has been daubed in blood above the couple's butchered corpses.
After being more or less blamed for the couple's deaths by Detective Swanson, Torchwood feel compelled to investigate the deaths, and their research leads them up a blind alley. So...Gwen suggests they use the Resurrection Gauntlet in order to reanimate one of the victims. The more seasoned members of Torchwood balk at this idea, but Gwen uses an old-fashioned female guilt-trip to persuade them.
