One of my favourite things about The Voice already is the celebrity coaches coming together to do a big performance on the show. Not only is it a reminder that these people have made it big in the music business, but there’s a genuine thrill in watching a diverse bunch of artists gelling well together.
On the latest episode of The Voice, Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green jammed on a medley of classic Queen tracks: Levine started with a take on Bohemian Rhapsody while Cee Lo and Blake sang We Will Rock You. Aguilera got her ‘money note’ moment with a histrionic-heavy version of We Are The Champions.
But the biggest goosebump moment of all was Adam Levine strapping on a guitar and playing the solo to We Will Rock You. Blake Shelton joined him and the two grooved away in the middle of the audience, with Blake shaking hands with fans. A brilliant moment, showing true star power, even if it wasn’t a perfect performance by any stretch.
It’s certainly an inspiration to the contestants on the show, and is demonstrates how pop, soul, rock and country singers can converge and make great music together. Have a look for yourselves, ladies and gentlemen:
