Whose prerogative? Chris Medina and Carson Higgins go head to head on the same song!

Funniest moment of [[American Idol (2011 Series)|American Idol]] last night by far was hot favourite Chris Medina and Carson Higgins going head to head with Bobby Brown’s My Prerogative.

It all started when fuzzy haired Chris thought he was rocking an original idea by doing an acoustic version of the song. Little did he know that Malibu-based actor Carson Higgins was also preparing his own rendition at the same time.

To be slightly different though, Carson worked with the backing band to create a funky floor-filler that had the audience on their feet. Chris Medina’s version was more laid back and showcased his voice nicely. Vocally, Medina had the edge on Carson, but Carson delivered the more entertaining performance.

However, we don’t think Carson’s voice is competition quality. But Chris is a little boring. Arghhhh! Tell us who to like, Shout readers – we’re conflicted!

Not sure who the “we” is in this article but, as someone who has actually heard him sing, I can tell you that Carson does have a voice to match the entertainment factor. I’m sure by now enough YouTube clips have surfaced, so look him up if you’re in doubt.

Hi Liz – thanks for taking the time to comment.

I don’t know if you’re connected to Carson, but I’m just not hearing a great singer. He’s fun, a likeable enough guy, but when he performs, it’s hard to take him seriously. From where I’m sitting, there are some amazing male vocalists on American Idol – Casey Abrams and Jacob Lusk are outstanding singers. And even though Chris Medina was a stronger singer than Carson, I think he could become quite boring after a while – like Andrew Garcia from last season.
