Alphabeat
Alphabeat are a six-piece pop band from Silkeborg in Denmark. According to their MySpace page, the band formed in 2002, and they moved to Copenhagen in 2005, shortly after signing their first record deal with Copenhagen Records.
In 2007, the band relocated to the UK, where they began re-recording their old songs and preparing their debut album, This Is Alphabeat. Several singles have been released from the album, the first being Fascination. This was followed (in the UK) with 10,000 Nights, Boyfriend and What Is Happening.
The band's sound is generally described as an 80's pop influenced by bands such as Deacon Blue and Prefab Sprout. The male and female vocal interplay is quite unique among contemporary bands.
Alphabeat are scheduled to play on Katy Perry's 2008 world tour.
