Billie Piper

Billie Piper (real name Lianne Paul Piper) is a former British pop singer who later carved out a successful career as an actress thanks to starring roles in Doctor Who and the ITV2 drama Secret Diary Of A Call Girl.

Biography / Timeline

1982 - Born on 22 September in Swindon, Wiltshire to parents Paul Piper and Mandy Kent. Initially registered as Lianne, her name was changed to Billie three weeks later.

1998 - Launches a solo pop career as "Billie", going to Number 1 with her first two singles, Because We Want To and Girlfriend. Wins the Smash Hits Princess Of Pop award in the same year.

2001 - Marries DJ and television presenter Chris Evans in May after a six-month courtship, despite a 16 year age-gap between them.

2004 - Seperates from Chris Evans. Appears in The Calcium Kid alongside Orlando Bloom and Thirty Things To Do Before You're Thirty.

2005 - Piper appears as Rose Tyler, the companion of The Doctor in the revived series of Doctor Who alongside Christopher Eccleston.

2006 - Leaves Doctor Who at the end of the second series.

2007 - Divorces Evans in May 2007. Marries actor Laurence Fox on 31st December at St Mary's Church in Easebourne, West Sussex. Radio 1 DJ, Chris Moyles starts a campaign to get Piper's 1998 single Honey To The Bee into the charts - it re-enters at No. 17. Appears in the television adaptation of Secret Diary Of A Call Girl in the lead role of Hannah Baxter/Belle de Jour.

2008 - Gives birth to first child with Fox on 21 October, naming him James Winston Fox. The child is delivered by emergency Caesarean section. Reprises her role as Rose Tyler on Doctor Who's fourth series for the final episodes of the series.

2010 - A third series of Secret Diary Of A Call Girl airs in the UK on ITV2. Piper is also due to play the role of Betty in A Passionate Woman alongside Sue Johnston.
