Captain Jack Harkness
Captain Jack Harkness is a fictional character first seen in the rejuvinated 2005 series of Doctor Who. The character proved so popular in Doctor Who, that a spin-off series, Torchwood was built around Jack as the head of the Cardiff division of the Torchwood Institute.

Jack Harkness was the first character in the Doctor Who universe to be openly bisexual, and as a result of his death and resurrection in the series one finale, Jack discovers that he cannot be killed and appears to be immortal.
It is revealed in the third series of Torchwood, Children Of Earth that Jack has a daughter and grandson living in Cardiff, although they are estranged.
In Torchwood, Jack has a developing romance with his male assistant, Ianto Jones, although liasons with other characters have been known to occur. Series 2 of Torchwood reveals that Jack had a relationship with Captain John Hart, played by James Marsters.
