Gossip Girl (TV Series)
Gossip Girl is an American drama series based on the novels written by Cecily von Ziegesar.
The story revolves around an elite group of teenagers in New York's Upper East Side and their relationships with each other and their parents. The salient details of their lives are gossipped about on a blog run by an anonymous blogger (the Gossip Girl of the title). The main characters are Serena van der Woodsen and her best friend Blair Waldorf. Serena becomes romantically involved with Dan Humphrey and Dan's sister, Jenny enters into the elite clique, much to the annoyance of Blair.
Gossip Girl originally aired on 18 September 2007 in Canada, and the next day in America on The CW. The first episode was also available 4 days in advance from the iTunes store. A second 24-episode series has been confirmed, although it is thought production could be interrupted due to a Screen Actors Guild strike.
Cast
Serena van der Woodsen is played by Blake Lively. At the beginning of the series, Serena returns to Manhattan after an abrupt departure. There is much speculation as to why she left New York, and this is revealed at the end of season 1.
Blair Waldorf (played by Leighton Meester) is Serena's best friend, although the two have a frosty relationship immediately after Serena returns to New York. Blair's boyfriend is Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford), another socialite whose brief affair with Serena was one of the reasons she left New York.
