Mark Calape
Mark Calape is from a Filipino dance family and has recently became a dad.
Born in October 1985, Mark was brought up in Milton Keynes. His signature style is as a self-taught breakdancer who choreographs his own crews, runs his own dance company, and as a teen was a local top class skateboarder before giving it up to forge a distinctive path in the world of dance.
He has been taught in hip-hop by some of the best teachers from around the world – Brian Green, Henry Link, Yoshi, Kite and Marjorie. He has worked with various companies – Dance To Excess, Zoo Nation, Boy Blue, Bird Gang, Pink Mafia, Animaniacs – which has provided him with more constructive training in hip-hop.
He recently reached the grand final stage of the BBC Three series Move Like Michael Jackson with his crew The Animaniacs.
His ambition is to have a worldwide dance company, with a base in the UK and mini-studios around the world, with teachers travelling from school to school.
He has danced in music videos for Jay Shaun, All Saints, Sugababes, se:sa, and performed in the West End last year in Into The Hoods. He did a UK theatre tour in Pied Piper, and was privileged to have danced at Nelson Mandella’s 90th birthday celebrations.
Mark has most recently auditioned for BBC's So You Think You Can Dance and made it through to the final fourteen dancers.
