X Factor contestant Olly Murs

Olly Murs was a finalist and the second-place contestant in the over 25s category in the 2009 series of The X Factor. Murs lives with his parents in Essex and works as an energy advisor in a call centre. He is 25 years old.

Murs applied to the 2008 series of X Factor, but failed to make it through the first round of auditions. He has also performed as part of a duo called Small Town Blaggers.

As part of the Over 25s category, Murs is being mentored by Simon Cowell.

The X Factor

Olly Murs was a finalist in The X Factor along with Stacey Solomon and Joe McElderry. When Solomon was eliminated on 12 December 2009, Murs went head-to-head with McElderry.

However, McElderry won the competition on 13 December with the most public votes.
