Rihanna

Rihanna, real name Robyn Rihanna Fenty is a pop singer from Barbados. She's best known for a mix of electro-pop and R&B, and her biggest single to date has been Umbrella. Rihanna was born on 20 February 1988.

Rihanna became a mainstream pop artist with the release of her debut album Music Of The Sun, which featured the hit single, Pon de Replay.

Early Years

Rihanna is the eldest daughter in a family of five. Her parents are Ronald and Monica Fenty and she has two younger brothers, Rorrey and Rajad. She was discovered performing as part of a trio by record producer Even Rogers, and moved to Conneticut with Rogers and his wife to embark on a singing career. After releasing a demo record, Rihanna was signed to Def Jam by Jay-Z.

In 2005, Rihanna's debut album Music Of The Sun was released on 30 August. The debut single from that album, Pon de Replay reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and UK singles chart respectively. The Music Of The Sun album reached #10 in the USA and 35 in the United Kingdom.

A follow-up album was swiftly released in April 2006, A Girl Like Me. The album enjoyed more commercial success, and the singles S.O.S. and Unfaithful were masive International hits.

Good Girl Gone Bad has proven to be Rihanna's most successful album to date, featuring the hit singles Umbrella, Shut Up And Drive, Please Don't Stop The Music, Take A Bow and If I Never See Your Face Again. Rihanna also featured on Live Your Life with rapper T.I. and alongside Justin Timberlake on Rehab.
