Russell Tovey
Russell Tovey is a British actor who started his career as a child actor, but has become more well-known in the period since 2004 with roles in Messiah, Doctor Who and Ashes to Ashes. He is also notable for his role as George Sands in the BBC Three drama series, Being Human.
Biography
Tovey was born in Essex on 14 November 1981 and educated at Shenfield High School where he studied drama.
He worked in theatre, most notably for his role as Rudge in The History Boys and playing the role in radio and movie adaptations. Other theatrical roles played by Tovey include His Dark Materials, His Girl Friday and Henry V.
In television work, Tovey has appeared in Rob Brydon's Annually Retentive and has made guest appearance in Gavin And Stacey and a Doctor Who special, Voyage Of The Damned. It was rumoured that Tovey was a contender to replace David Tennant as The Doctor at the recommendation of Russell T Davies. The role eventually went to Matt Smith.
Most recently, Tovey has appeared on screen as George Sands, a werewolf in the BBC Three drama, Being Human.
