Danny Gokey is a 28-year-old singer and church music director from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and a final 12 contestant in the 2009 series of American Idol. He originally auditioned with a version of I Heard It Through The Grapevine by Marvin Gaye.

Sarver's audition was in Phoenix, Arizona, and he was confirmed for the show's final 12 on 18 February 2009. He was eliminated from the competition in the Motown week on 26 March 2009.
