X Factor 2010: Halloween theme night song choices!

The X Factor starts in less than half an hour, and tonight’s theme is Halloween. Well, for some of the contestants it’s Halloween. For the others, the song choices are so loosely related it’s a bit of a joke. I mean, Bleeding Love…seriously?

Let’s have a look at the song choices by category:

Over 28s

  • Wagner Carillho: O Fortuna/Bat out of Hell
  • Mary Byrne: Could It Be Magic (Barry Manilow, Take That) Listen to Louis talking about the song choice here.

Under 28 Females

  • Cher Lloyd – Stay (Shakespeare Sisters)
  • Katie Waissel – Bewitched (Ella Fitzgerald)
  • Treyc Cohen: Relight My Fire (Take That)
  • Rebecca Ferguson: Wicked Game (Chris Isaak)

  • One Direction: Total Eclipse of the Heart (Bonnie Tyler)
  • Belle Amie: Venus (Bananarama)

Under 28 Males

  • Aiden Grimshaw: Thriller (Michael Jackson)
  • Matt Cardle: Bleeding Love (Leona Lewis)
  • Paije Richardson: Back to Black (Amy Winehouse)
As you can see, not really much in the way of scary source material there. I’m interested to see if Aiden Grimshaw can pull of Thriller without resorting to his usual intense stage performances. And Matt Cardle singing Bleeding Love is just bizarre. That’s the second week in a row where he’s sung a song originally by a female artist.
